TTT a juste achevé la composition de Thanh Giong et Tirer sur la Lune deux contes musicaux sur des textes de son épouse Tâm Qùy. L’effectif musical sera simple: une récitante, guitar, violon et percussion. Ces deux contes sont dédiés à son petit-fils. Le compositeur avait par ailleurs déjà utilisé le matériaux des contes vietnamiens dans Légendes de la Terre du Sud (1998) et l’opéra L’Arbalète magique (2006).

TTT has just finished the composition of two musical tales: Thanh Giong and Shoot the Moon, based on Vietnamese tales by Tâm Qùy.
Vietnamese folk tales and legends have already featured in the composer’s work:  Légendes de la Terre du Sud (Legends from the Southern Land) (1998), two symphonic tales for speaker, soprano and orchestra, and his chamber opera L’Arbalète magique (The Magic Bow, both also on texts by Tâm Qùy.)
Contrary to those previous works, Thanh Giong and Shoot the Moon have been written on a more modest scale: one speaker, violin, guitar and percussion. “I wanted to dedicate those musical tales to my grandson!”
